Food and Beverage Manager

The Holiday Inn Boston-Bunker Hill (Distinctive Hospitality Group) is searching for an enthusiastic individual to join their team. An individual that can bring a perfect culture to the Food and Beverage Department resulting in a phenomenal guest experience

Position purpose:

Assists in directing and coordinating the operations and activities of all Food and Beverage operations within the Hotel and Restaurant and to maintain

and improve food quality, service and merchandising to increase sales and profits.

Essential Elements:

  • Ability to understand and execute all safety and emergency procedures.  For example, fire, crowd control, inclement weather, and bomb threats.
  • Ability to move freely within the restaurant and kitchen areas.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including the use of percentages, as well as maintain a running inventory.
  • Ability to read and understand diagrams and count.
  • Ability to interact with guests and other employees in a courteous, empathetic and discreet manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and be able to direct/escort them to various facilities within the hotel.
  • Ability to lift and carry a server tray weighing approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat and reach.

Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Ability to adhere to the grooming standards.

Job Tasks:

  • Work with managers, stewarding department, and supervisors to keep outlets clean to meet health and sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate monthly profit and loss narratives with all outlets to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Implement training with managers for T.I.P.S. and TRAC. 
  • Assist and give input in menu and concept development in the hotel outlets and coordinate the timely implementation of new menus.
  • Supply relief coverage for managers when necessary.
  • Assist in approving and implementing all policies and procedures for the operation of the restaurants, room service area, and lounge.
  • Direct the managers and participate with the Executive Chef in gathering internal and external guest feedback on the menu for future changes and additions.
  • Review weekly staffing to meet forecasted business.
  • Assists the department heads in achieving budgeted profit objectives while maintaining desired standards of quality food, service, cleanliness, merchandising and promotion.
  • Regularly review guest comment cards to evaluate the customer satisfaction of all restaurants and lounge service.  Recommend changes in operating procedures and marketing strategies as warranted.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and with capital expenses, revenues, profitability, and direct expenses.
  • Assist with the implementation of all marketing and promotional ideas and concepts, which have been approved by the Director of Sales and General Manager, ensuring their success.
  • Ensure timely performance evaluations of managers and associates.
  • Coordinate events with Executive Chef to involve management and associate participation from all areas of food and beverage to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor food and beverage purchases, requisitions, inventories, product utilization, and proper procedures to ensure the monthly budgeted cost of sales.
  • Must meet city, county, state or other legal minimum age requirements to sell/serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Extensive experience in the operation of multi-unit food and beverage operations.  Sales and marketing oriented.  Pre-opening and opening experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware

Knowledge of Digital Dining

Ability to describe all menu items, prices, and methods of preparation.

Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations regarding the serving of alcoholic beverages.

Qualification Standards


Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field (i.e.: Hotel Management, Business Management, Marketing) preferred.


Preferred: minimum of (5) Restaurant Management experience

Preferred: minimum of (5) years hands-on experience with food & beverage operations

Licenses or Certificates:

TIPS Certification

ServSafe Certification

Valid Driver’s License
