Food Runner / Buffet Attendant

What you will be doing

  • Assist the outlet waitstaff and kitchen staff by completing the meal plate for presentation to the guest and controlling the flow of food orders in and out of the kitchen.
  • Responsible for the delivery and clearing of all food items, trays, and tableware throughout the outlet and ensuring proper delivery of items to the appropriate location.
  • Provide appropriate condiments in preparation for delivery or server pick-up; complete tray set-up of any required items.
  • Facilitate assembly of the buffet to ensure consistent presentation.
  • Ensure items are kept at proper temperature at all times.
  • Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course in the absence of busperson.
  • Clear tables after guests in the absence of busperson.
  • Transport soiled tableware from the outlet to dish-room and unload, sort and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas in the soiled dish drop off area.
  • In the absence of busperson, between seatings promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths; check floor and clean as required; and reset and arrange tabletop.
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests; communicate guest requests to server as needed.
  • Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
  • Assist in handling cash and credit transactions with proficiency when needed.

The ideal candidate for this position

  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the outlet as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Practice all safety & sanitation standards.
  • Highly resourceful, flexible and creative in solving problems.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and execute with a high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
  • Strong inter-personal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to describe all beverage items, menu items, prices and methods of preparation.
  • Communicates effectively with management regarding guest issues, supply levels, etc.
  • Ability to work a varied & flexible schedule, including weekend and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, walk continuously, bend, squat, reach and move freely within food outlet area. 
  • Ability to lift and carry a server tray weighing approximately 35-50 pounds in the overhand style of service and push and/or pull carts weighing approximately 75-100 pounds.
  • Ability to utilize standard restaurant equipment, for example: coffee and beverage machines. 

Experience

  • Preferred: minimum of (2) years Restaurant experience.
  • Preferred: minimum of (2) years hands on experience with food & beverage operations.
